WebJul 16, 2024 · Then it doesn't hold well and leaks. One fix that has worked for me is to remove the line, buy a new nut for it and install it onto the line. Then take a drift and drive it into the tube to slightly expand the OD of the tube. See attached diagram. Steiner Tractor has these for $15 ea. Disassemble the control linkage until you can get the part with the worn pin out of there. Press or drive the worn pin out. Replace with the correct hardened dowel pin part number 374072S from Ford/New Holland. This is listed as a 5/16″ x 7/8″ dowel pin but it is actually .309″ diameter not 5/16″ (.3125″).
WebJan 23, 2012 · When you replace the compression nut, make sure all of the pieces of the old one are out of the pump and keep all of the pieces of the new nut in the order they come. Slip the new nut over the line and make sure that the line goes all the way into the pump before tightening the nut. You'll need a new fitting, and make sure the pipe isn't damaged or rusted. Also make sure the pipe enters the pump squarely.

A little pricey, it will run around $150-175. But, I am glad to pay that to eliminate the constant leak and aggravation. Check with a hydraulic hose store.
